The Municipality of Tervel is occupied by 127,520,000 sqm of forest (22 per cent of the total area) which is completely state-owned. The forest areas attract visitors for a diverse range of activities including hunting, fishing, hiking, horse riding, safari, cycling and nature trails. 72.2 per cent of the Municipality of Tervel is agricultural land with the agricultural land representing an astonishing 833,600 sqm per capita. In addition, Tervel is part of the “Golden Land” area of Bulgaria which boasts some of the most fertile land in Europe and some of the cleanest air in the world. In fact, many asthma sufferers as well as eco-tourists visit the area to sample its plentiful and unspoilt natural beauty.

Always lit by the sun Bulgaria has between 2200 and 2500 hours of sunlight per year. Average temperature (April - September): + 23 °C. The average yearly temperature is 14.7 °C. The climate is exceptionally favourable for growing vines, fruits & vegetables, and oil yielding rose for which Bulgaria is renowned.

Tervel - Local Interests
Hunting – Six world-class hunting grounds are within a one-hour drive of Tervel with the nearest being less than 1 kilometre away. The Tervel State Game Breeding Reserve was established in 1934 and covers a total area of 14 800 hectares in Dobrudza-Plateau. In 1981, the Tervel Reserve took part in the world-renowned International Fair where it exhibited 163 trophies of which most were awarded Gold Medals.
Golf – Three world-class golf courses are within a one-hour drive of Tervel. Black Sea Rama, a championship course, that has been designed by Gary Player (expected to open May 07) and The Lighthouse Resort (opening December 07) and the Thracian Cliffs at Kavarna, with 5 star facilities (planned to open in 2007-8) again designed by Gary Player.
Fishing – There are eight reservoirs in the Tervel area including two at Syrnets, and two at Chestimensko that are mainly used for fishing and the supply of water.

Horse riding – Less than a 10-minute drive from Tervel, is the opportunity to ride horses through the large forest areas. Here you will encounter stunning scenery in a vast forest reserve as well as the possibility of seeing wildlife such as deer, boar, eagles and pheasants.
World Heritage Site – Bulgaria has nine world heritage sites of which the Srebarna nature reserve is less than 40 minutes drive away from Tervel..
